This was inspired by Leo Babauta’s Zen Habits blog.

Leo makes some great points and I’ll add here some of my own:

  • We need less corporate-speak in this world, not more. What does adding a little © at the bottom of my blog accomplish? David Graeber explains this better than I could in his article, Bullshit Jobs.
  • There are no original ideas. It’s nearly impossible to create something new. Shakespeare and the philosophers have already said it all. All we can do is take what’s already been said and put our own twist to it, breathe life into the words with our personality. That’s where the value is. See Ideas are just a multiplier of execution by Derek Sivers.
  • I’ve gotten so much—knowledge, entertainment, answers—from books and blogs. This is my small way of (hopefully) paying it forward.
